Young Teens
      Sunday School Class

The Young Teen class is a time of transition. Students move up to this class upon entering 7th grade & are sometime hesitate to leave as freshman until a comfortable transition to high school life has been made. Therefore we allow 9th graders to remain and then promote themselves to the high school class when it’s the right time for him/her. Our goal is to have the students in a class they are comfortable with while attending Sunday School.  We always open with a time of fellowship & catching up. On a perfect attendance Sunday, all three Down East middle schools, Morehead Middle, & Freshman at ECHS are represented. We try to stress 3 important life lessons: (1) Each person is a walking billboard/advertisement for the LORD. Our behavior & our actions are the only example of Jesus some peers will ever hear or see. Try to be Christ like. (2) As their independence starts to grow, remember the question WWJD (What Would Jesus Do)? Make each decision as if GOD is sitting in the room with you because HE IS. The decisions they are making concerning habits & friends will have a direct impact on their future. Make GOD pleasing decisions. (3) No one is perfect; we all make mistakes even us adults. When, not if  we make a mistake, Jesus Still Loves Us. Ask Him to forgive us, learn from that mistake & keep living for Christ.
We Pray Many Blessings on your family during 2008. Sister Dani Jo Taylor

Working Behind the Scene

Of all the things that keep the wheels of the Church turning, none is more important than those that work and labor behind the scenes. Many times the real intense work has been done before the microphones and lights come on and presentations are made. Sister Paige Willis is just one of the many, many volunteers that sacrifice their time and talents here at The Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church. Each week she makes sure that the bulletin is just right and in place for Brother Paul Wade and his greeters when they arrive about 9:15 Sunday mornings. Each month she carefully puts together our Church’s Monthly Calendar, gathering information from our master calendar which we plan at the beginning of each new year. As events change and are added, you guessed it, she keeps us up to date on that too! Another huge undertaking she oversees is our Graduation Sunday events. She prepares biographies for each graduate and along with Sister Laura Damren, makes sure that the proper gifts are purchased and ready for their big day. In addition to all this she serves as assistant CE Director. I’m thankful for Sister Paige and all she does to keep us informed!  I hope that over the next few Newsletters we can highlight some of our other “Behind The Scenes” servants. Thank God for them ALL! – bro. jon
